Christian Contemporary

They call their music Christian Contemporary but choir boys they are not. The Daniel Amos Singers (?), who will perform Wednesday opening night at the Napa Town and Country Fair plan to give local audiences a good dose of ear-opening music.

Begining at 8 p.m. in the fairgrounds Grandstand, Daniel Amos presents a tight professional show replete with spacious harmonies and steady clearly articulated rhythms.

This group of fice musicians produces country-influenced rock, twenties be-bop and sophisticared hard rock, all with a clear spiritual purpose in place of self indulgence.

In Napa, Daniel Amos will perform from their latest album Shotgun Angel, including the title song, "Upon This Rock" (?), and "Take Me Back." (?)

Other standouts songs include "The Whistler," "Posse in the Sky," and "He's Gonna Do A Number On You."

Critics from the West Coast to England have described Daniel Amos as taking Christian Contemporary music a giant step forward. In Englad, the music publication Buzz, observed that Christian recordings out of British studios sounded "muddily anemic," alongside Daniel Amos.

Tickets for the Napa performance will be available at $3 from the fairgrounds office and all outside gates prior to performance time. Barring a sell-out, tickets will also be sold at the fairgrounds Grandstand ticket office.
