I know I've called on the savior many times because of Bill Gates.

i think i was at that Knott's show. Did they do the William Blake schtick that night? Was it on the stage with the wagons circled half way around?
Did they do many Wang Chung jokes (we had to ask Ed to explain those to us afterwards). |
That sounds right. I don't remember the specifics of the show, but I do remember the wagons.

my idea(?) whoever the promoter was thought it would be great to be able to lie on a raft in a pool and listen to DA. all they COULD do was listen because we were so far away. it was really funny. and yeah, the band that openned was called "holy smoke" and terry accidently referred to them as "the smokin' joes."
and yes, the pool did stink.

Oh I thought maybe having the band play over a
tepid stinky pool was symbolic...
Where is holy joes now?

Trying to remember the year |
 |
I saw DA/Eddies a number of times, but I'm not sure which was my favorite. I started going to C-stone in 1988, and I could have swore DA were there that year, maybe in support of Darn Floor. Anyhow, I have vivid memories of the usual onstage melee, and that they did numerous encores, at one point lining up, walking down the stairs and turning around and coming right back up. It was hilarious. It was at Grayslake for sure, then the aforementioned Eddies in flannel and dresses show. I still have pictures from that show that turned out quite well. One of my favorite concerts EVER. Truly bliss.

At least it wasn't a fountain!
Are the holy joes Up In Smoke, or did they ride off into the desert on their Camels?

Before the show we had a chance to go backstage for a minute
thanks to our trusty guide Podgy Gooliota....
and I remember the guys sitting around on folding chairs and a
punch bowl of M&Ms. And of course a full case of Grape Nehi
Chocolate Action Beverage.
Later we ended up outside the locked door which had a scrawny
preteen guard.... standing in line to get in. This was in the
olden days.. and here comes Rob Watson through the crowd,
and the miniscule guard tried to stop him from entering...
"I'm in the band!!!" or something to that effect was heard.
Incredible show, Daniel Amos set was pretty long and Randy's
set was simliar to the One Night in 20 Years video...same outfit.
The Eddies set was great...the dress Berger had on, I mean
wow, simply ravishing.... can you say Sandi Patti?
The encore of covers was great with Randy joining them on stage
..."We Gotta Get out Of This Place" seemed extremely fitting since
we were in some sort of 110 degree metal bunker for the last
few hours. ...........It was HOT! zibbidy bap boom blah, pow
pow pow.... |
I wish I would have gone to Cornerstone '90!
