In the early days of AAR, somebody from the forums here was exceptionally kind and sent me (anonymously) DFBB on vinyl, unopened. What an incredible gift. Still, I didn't have a copy of the album which I could listen to because there was NO WAY I was opening the LP.
Well, somebody else from this community sent me an extra original CD copy of DFBB, so the LP traveled all the way to C-Stone with me and...
In an earlier conversation, Terry had mentioned to me that he himself had no copy of DFBB. So, I passed the LP on to Terry. I hope whomever sent me that LP is happy with where it ended up and not offended that I passed it along.
But there's the stinkin' irony: the originator of the tunes did not himself own a copy of DFBB. That was just wrong.

I can't put into words how ridiculous that sounds.
Back on topic, the only copy of DFBB I've ever had is on cassette. I need to go back and give it a listen since I haven't heard it since I was in middle school.

I think that website might have a point though, I feel a little bad listening to "screaming-satanic-man-worship." Maybe if it was toned down a little to "wailing-demonic-man-accolades" I would feel more comfortable with it. Just a thought.

In fact, I partly agree with the statement that Christian Rock (ew) is not meant to evangelize, at least not in the traditional sense, If anything, the best of the stuff coaxes the listener into making their own decisions, not beating them over the head with the Gideon, then scorching their feet with hellfire.
The best Christian music tries to show God through different lenses. After all, there are many out there who would be saved if only they thought God still existed, period. The athiestic nihlism that is part & parcel of the modern culture doesn't even have room for the thought. Sometimes, all it takes is someone to say, "that amazing thing you're seeing can't be an accident".
It's also good for the practicing Christian to hear, now and again, that God does not talk in everyone's ear or make them speak in tongues or give them faith-healing gifts. God has not forsaken you just because you live an average life - actually, your averageness might be His greatest blessing to you, depending on how you look at it.
So I agree in part that the best CCM doesn't beat the listener into spiritual submission, but kind of points them to the door. As for the 'screaming man worship', the writer will just have to reconcile that his own darn self.

yeah, except what they are saying by "not meant to evangelize" is that the only proper use of music is praising God, as defined by them.
