The production sound reminds me a lot of Gift Horse, but it really goes way beyond that... a few of these songs will really take some folks by surprise I think.

At the very latest, it should be at Cornerstone and the shows that follow... it will hopefully be at the Dogs site at the same time. We're going to see about getting at least a partial shipment early if possible so that the store can start selling them almost immediately when they're available on the road.

Yep. Judging only from that one song (could hear at home but not at work) I would say the production is a lot like Gift Horse but the song seems to be between Gift Horse and RMC. The drums are definitely not like RMC.

I really like it!

While the first 3 albums were really great and had the most variety, I inevitably come back to Gift Horse as my favorite LD album maybe 60% of the time.

Driving home from the show in Tyler gave me plenty of time to listen to this new CD and get very familiar with the songs. In my opinion, the last 3 are worth the price of the CD. I don't think it really sounds like any of the others. Of course there are some similarities but it has somewhat of a different feel. And yes, there are a couple rockers. One in particular really moves and Mike has a good time with it.

So, the last three songs: Get Me Ready, Burn it Up and That's Where Jesus Is are great songs. Get Me Ready is one of the best rocker songs that they have ever done. Burn it Up is an acoustic song about Dr. Love burning it up on his guitar. That's Where Jesus Is is one of the truest songs about Jesus that have been recorded in recent history. Of course, this will not be played on K-Love.

I can't remember if there has ever been an album by christian artist that refers to polishing a turd or someone soiling his pants. Then again there isn't another artist or band like these guys either.

Good stuff guys. Don't ever stop what you are doing.

The CD is an interesting mix. Everytime I listen a new song pops out at me.

Hardning My Heart - Roe sings it and cause of the lyrics I thought he wrote it
but Terry did. That one might me my favorite so far.
With a different arrangement it could have been on an early 7s record.

You won't be dissapointed. I listened to it again last night.

"Devils Elbow" could have been on John Wayne.
"Plug in turn on burn it up" could be a choir song musically.
"Corona Del Mar" could be on a SE project. - perhaps one Terry was
writing for the new one?
"Hardining My Heart" - nada
"Where Jesus Is" I am going to add that one to the station playlist
"Get ME Ready For It" great rocker - they did this one live.
"Broken In Brooklyn" - Classic Lost Dogs

Musically, I always thought Devils' Elbow would have fit in better with Avocado Faultline, but then John Wayne had Ten Gallon Hat too. (no, I don't yet have the Dogs CD).

Lyrically, Devil's Elbow really works where it originally was - on the bonus disc for When Everyone Wore Hats - If you don't have it, you need to get it!!!!

I am glad they decided to put it on an LD disc and get it more exposure, it is a neat little song.

The Devil's Elbow
from the book set "When Everyone Wore Hats"
©2002 Zoom Daddy Music
Words and Music by Terry Scott Taylor
There by the Sumac and the thicket of the evergreens
Carved our names next to the others in Pacific City beams
We passed the faded billboards and all those tumbleweed dreams
Now it's on the Devil's Elbow

Had a sizzilin Tbone, vegetable and fries
And a roll, fresh side salad for a buck twenty five
We can fill our bellies, watch the river rise
Down at the Devil's Elbow

We're tired of the waitresses when we quit
We'll lock the doors and that'll be it
No more chicken in a basket or chili supper benefits
In and out of the Devil's Elbow

Well lumberjacks gave it it's infamous name
The big Piny river hasn't been to blame
And the log jams are the only claim to fame
There at the Devil's Elbow

And it's a threat to the old folks and it's death to youth
Jammed up so bad you won't get loose
Your only escape is if you know the truth
When you get to the Devil's Elbow

There by the Sumac and the thicket of the evergreens
Carved our names next to the others in Pacific City beams
Passed the faded billboards and all those tumbleweed dreams
Now it's on the Devil's Elbow
