I play Daniel Amos/Lost Dogs/Swirling Eddies/Terry FREQUENTLY on my radio show! My program isn't exactly considered Christian radio, although I do also play Mark Heard, Cockburn, the Choir, 77s, Innocence Mission, Buddy & Julie, Bill Mallonee, Stonehill, Keaggy ... as well as a lot of Brian Wilson-influenced 60's-esque pop, some folk, country, etc. from "secular" artists. My show is called The Think Tank -- here is a MySpace site for it:
http://www.myspace.com/thethinktank
The playlists are beyond out-of-date, but I plan on updating them soon (I've had a very busy summer with surgery, planning a move, and lots of house-sitting...)
Anyway, I really do play Terry's music just about every week -- so does my fiancee/show partner -- and not only that, Terry HIMSELF was on my show yesterday! He was one of seven artists who were generous enough to participate in my tribute to Mark Heard; he called in and talked about Mark for 3-4 minutes...
My show is on Sundays from 10-noon PST, and you can hear it online here:
http://www.kaosradio.org
In addition to my program, there is a show on KAOS called God's Misfits that's on in the OTHER Sunday 10-12 timeslot, from ten-midnight ... I know Scott Eaton also plays Terry's music and I wouldn't be surprised to hear the new Swirling Eddies on his show. So while you probably won't hear Terry Taylor on KAOS any other days (though we do have a couple of Lost Dogs discs in the library that are VERY occasionally played by other random KAOS deejays) Sunday from 10-12 is always a good time to tune in to KAOS if you want to hear him! |
Cool. Would it be OK if I sent you some of my material?

Thread: Who would you compare DA and the Eddies to? |

Daniel Amos - David Bowie and The Eagles are about the only artists/bands that are really similar in my collection. The Northern Pikes' "Teenland" has that New Wave/Alarma! type sound...

And as I"m in New zealand does that mean I have to call it a New Zealand Express card? |
LoL
jeffrey k.'s word is good enough for me,
but I would like to have this verified by Terry or Rob |
Isn't that like, an oxymoron?

See, this is why I keep pushing the idea of a tour with my band. We're not married, we don't have kids (I think), and I guess there's a few who think they're job is a good gig, but I'd rather try to semi-make a living at music.

That exact phrase is said about every Terry release since HD!

Has it ever been wrong?

I think we should just all meet up at an internet cafe and post on the DAmb there.

Right now I'm not making any huge progress. Of course, I was at camp for the weekend, and we're recording our first album right now.
Nonetheless, I will keep at it!

Ambitious, indeed. I'm probably going to find some willing folks to assist my endeavor.

No qualms about that. I wasn't thinking along those lines at all, really, just lamenting the fact that what once seemed to be a wealth of seemingly free info now has a price tag on just about everything. Well, maybe in a way I guess I am....... but point well taken.

if I was to create and release a product that did not demonstrate excellence (i.e. a good majority of the tab on the Web), then I would think it a fine idea to put it up on the Web for everyone. |
But I like your songs on the Web, arctic! I was humming that 'Banana Split Rain' all morning! |
You got me there, Pup. Thanks for listening!

I'm not really interested in traditional sheet music because it's just too many pages and I wind up doing nearly as much work taking it back to tab as figgering it out in the first place. I do seem to remember a sheet music software/ service I saw one time that was pay-per-download and seemed to be decent (I got a few free sample downloads
), but I don't remember the name of it. Wait- I just remembered I think it was called Sibelius Scorch or something like that.
Blessings in your endeavour, artic!

Although Alarma (as a whole CD) would have been one of the last ones I would have picked to start with!

Thanks, MF.
The study of Alarma! is for my personal benefit more than anything, so I was thinking maybe I could do an anthology type thing and tab out a few songs from various albums. I think an entire album is somewhat ambitious, though I'd probably have it all figured out one day.

My input is this - if I was to create and release a product that did not demonstrate excellence (i.e. a good majority of the tab on the Web), then I would think it a fine idea to put it up on the Web for everyone.
I don't know if you've seen some of the Van Halen, Eric Clapton, or any transcriptions in general, but the quality ones have tab below standard notation, and chords on top. I'd like to do something like that.
