Any chance that we will someday see a DVD release of the 2011 DA tour?

Well, we have a bunch of scraps and fan-made video. The idea was to get a couple of full shows that were filmed and the band's tour video-diary thing and edit it all together.... It was going to be a fun idea I think. We wanted to include at least a little bit of every show from the tour if possible.
Unfortunately, something that tends to happen with some ideas like this - we never really got everything we were supposed to get in one place so it could be put together. Soooo... we still have the fragments of shows, but not the full thing that was supposed to be the foundation.
The "Dig Here" video has pretty much taken over our video-editing time right now anyway. It's a monster. |
That's about what I figured.
Have you ever seen the concert video DVD put out about 10 years ago by The Violet Burning? I thought it was pretty creative. They had 2 (maybe 3) cameras film each concert, in different locations; sometimes closeup on the stage, sometimes further back. Then, for each song, they took one audio track and edited - complete video of that song from multiple concerts. So, for each song, they have many different camera angles. Although the backgrounds, staging, clothes, etc. change throughout the course of one song's video, it does give the experience of the concert(s).
I'm not sure if something like that would work with the footage you do have, but I thought it was a unique way to produce a concert video on a limited budget.

Didn't some of these shows get recorded for the purpose of putting together a DVD? Any news on that front?

Nice photos (but they definitely shouldn't be in the Off Topic Discussion section)

This is pricy, but some here may be interested in this new Armikrog tier:
Oh, and one more thing… we added another Terry S. Taylor tier! Several of the backers have been asking for this, and Terry has agreed to do it: Terry is going to compose an additional song for the game and include the names of up to 100 backers in the lyrics! How cool is that? This tier goes for $495, and in addition to your name in the song it includes everything from the $90 tier.

Speaking of Kickstarter, I would be remiss if I neglected to bring this one to the board's attention also.

I would guess - and it's just a guess - that the album will be coming in the May - June time period. I know they're trying to get the mixes finished. It'll have to be mastered still, which usually doesn't take too long.. and of course artwork and packaging will have to be put together. |
Probably trying to get it ready for Cornerstone

Is the rumor true that if you hit $30,000 you'll put the album out on 8-track?

Right, I think they're still leaning towards California for several reasons not the least of which is that thats where most of the band lives. They were thinking that would reduce the cost of hotels and travel. |
California is the place to be!

Yeah I know the album was started by Terry and Rob Watson and at that time it was titled Vox Robotica. There is a demo tape with some weird Vox Robotica demos they made. If I remember correctly they are very rough and not much like the songs eventually released. Don't think I ever heard the story about why the name changed. |
The robot population was pretty sparce in the eighties, so the marketing would have been tough.

Ana was probably Mark Harmon's daughter. I don't remember who Eric was.. I don't think I got a credit on that one, although I probably left blood on many of the discs. The original "cardboard" version had to be put together by hand and the industrial grade adhesive on each label would practically pull the flesh from your bones. After the first couple hundred, you couldn'f feel your fingers anymore.. and you weren't even close to finished!
|
I'll have to check my copy for dried blood on the cardboard.

Sorry - yeah, just meant that the saga was turning a new page and looking good. I almost made it "Chapter 4" or something, but with the life this album has had that seemed too short. |
But the real question is: Are there 50 chapters or 150 chapters in this saga?
