     | Check out the guitar riff on his new song, A New Hallelujah from his MySpace site: http://www.myspace.com/michaelwsmith

Sounds very much like the riff from The Author Of The Story.

     | Why were you listening to Michael W. Smith?

Oh, yeah, and it does sound a heck-of-a lot like The Author Of The Story.

 Sad, very sad.

 And it makes me mad.

     | I also wanted to point out that either 1) MBD was 7 years ahead of it's time musically or 2) Mr. Smith is 7 years behind the times musically (or some combination thereof).
Mr. Smith, while rarely innovative, is usually "with the times," so I'll bet that MBD was 7 years ahead of it's time.

Also, I wonder if "Smitty" is a DA fan. Perhaps he just recently got a copy of MBD. Who knows?

     | Check out the opening riff of Bob Dylan's Things Have Changed. Sounds an awful lot like the opening to Dancing on Light from Terry's solo album Knowledge & Innocence released about 15 years earlier. I smell a lawsuit...

     | I'm guessing that it's only a matter of time before MWS's song A New Hallelujah starts getting performed by worship bands in churches across the country.

MWS gets the credit and royalties (from sheet music and CDs sold), TST gets zero. Doesn't seem fair.

Common, Smitty, admit you stole it!

 Ok, I feel better now.

If someone here is or can become a "friend" of MWS, then they could post a message on his Myspace page stating the similarities of the songs and give the address to DA's Shoutlife page that has The Author of the Story on it. Perhaps it could be a good plug for DA.
When MWS gives you lemons, you make lemonade, right?

     | Did he even write it? Most of his praise stuff is written by other people isn't it?

BTW - Both MWS and Amy Grant paid tribute to the Lost Dogs via video a few years back during their show in Chatsworth...

     | A video tribute to the Lost Dogs, eh? What did the video show/say about the LDs?

     | Yeah it was 2003ish... actually part of the Mike & Terry BBQ tour. Burliegh Drummond surprised the guys by showing up and playing drums... Rob Watson played some keys.. Jeff Elbel played bass.

Dick Clark (also on video) did a quick count down of the top ten Lost Dogs songs.

I don't remember the exact wording, but both Amy and Michael just said something along the lines of how they appreciate the fellas and that sort of thing. Grant held up a copy of "Sacred Cows" and said something like "we'll talk about this later..."

We almost had Comedian David Brenner participating in a weird "fake" tribute as well... didn't quite work out. The idea was that he would start talking about them and say some really weird things.. then it would turn out that he was thinking of the wrong band - the Oakridge Boys or somebody. He liked the idea .. said something like "this sounds just weird enough for me to do it." Once the details started to be worked out, he ran out of time to do anything.

     | I always thought David Brenner had a similar look to Steve Taylor. Hard to find pictures of Steve to use as a comparison though.
