STill - there's nothing weirder than the Farm Beetles. Except maybe sacred cows. But SE are supposed to be weird I guess.

Farm Beetles is weird. Heck, I haven't even played that one in front of my wife. She would think I've flipped.

Ditto - although it's a bit late to convince her I'm normal. She's already seen my collection

I would never hear the end of it. She would never appreciate the humor. She would tell me how stupid it was.

Despite being a DA,TST,SE,LD devotee, I've not been able to enjoy the Farm Beetles or Sacred Cows. This is likely not a popular position to take, so I'm open to hearing ways in which I might appreciate these unusual discs as more than releases required to complete my collection.

I'm afraid that there's no help for enjoying them. They're pretty far out there. I pretty much agree that I have them primarily to complete the collection. Sacred Cows just hurts.

I love the version of Strawberry Fields.
Sacred Cows is great but for about two weeks later your singing "Big House" or "God Good"

It's OK and funny, but it's not one I'm going to listen to all the time.

Strange that DG was the actual first DA album I ever purchased. I'd heard "Soon" on the radio. I'd heard "Home Permanent" on the compilation "Rock around the world" album. So I went out and purchased the only DA album available, DG. It was SO weird. Really kinda turned me off. But I liked "Angels tuck you in" and so got the west coast bar band I played in to cover it. Still a strange album to me--beyond the other Alarmas. But, it has a special place for me--especially "Angels" and "Distance & Direction". May have to record them both for BD's project, no matter what.
Isnt' God good? (don't ask me where that came from)

Yeah, Doppelganger is great. It took me awhile to really get into it, but it's become one of my favorite DA albums. I especially love the songs from "Angels" to "I Didn't Build This For Me." Great stuff, some of the best satirical tunes ever recorded.

For me Farm Beetles, and Sacred Cows have the same effect on me as Spittle And Phlegm.
First when my brothers, cousins and friends get together some of our humor is similar.. so when they make
a joke or something that sounds like something we would do
that makes me laugh.
And second, I can apreciate the guys playing the fool
just for the sole purpose of making people laugh.
Kind of like the whole "Happy Wanderer" song in concert,
I like the fact that Terry is willing to be silly..
just to make us all laugh.
Or like in Cornerstone 90, when they did "I am Woman"
in concert. I guess when I listen to the Farm Beetles
or Sacred Cows I feel like I am in on the joke in a way.
I can just see them in the studio making up those words
just to crack each other up.
As far as Doppelganger and Alarma being weird, I can see how
people would see them that way. But, I never really thought of it when they came out. To me maybe certain songs seem a little weird but some of it doesn't.
I grew up with the Beatles music, Revolver, Sgt Pepper,
Magical Mystery Tour, etc and other similar music, so songs that were experimental and like nothing I'd ever heard before was both what I was used to and what I was looking for. The only thing that kept me interested in music was new
sounds. Doppelganger and Alarma was that for me.
I had friends that were not used to any Christian music that
when they heard DA, they didn't think the music was weird
but they thought it was totally odd to have that kind of music with a Christian message.... they REALLY thought that was weird.
