Recording and
production duties are being handled by not only Taylor but
also Rob Watson ("Knowledge & Innocence," "Vox Humana").
In a recent telephone conversation, Terry informed, "The
songs have been influenced by my recent work on the Silent
Planet "Brian Wilson Tribute". The Lost Dogs did a tune
for the album and I helped produce a few more cuts. As I
was working with Brian's material, I began to write songs
for possible inclusion on the upcoming Lost Dogs' album.
But with the Dogs, we shifted the focus to a more 'prayer
and worship' theme and the songs I had earlier written
didn't seem to fit. So when JT and I began to discuss a
new solo project, I was already more than half way home.
The songs have a definite Beach Boys, Brian Wilson feel to
them. I have a lot of excitement about this recording and
am looking forward to completing it. There's a lot of energy here."
--------------------------
Is anyone else out there really looking forward to this
album?
This and "WEWH bookset" are two things I just can't
wait to get ahold of.

Small details for LITTLE, big ? |
|
Just some questions about LITTLE, big. Anyone out there can help but I'm assuming the Audioris have the answers...
First, is this a Silent Planet, Galaxy 21 or Stunt disc?
Will there be a preorder on this site or has the whole preorder thing sort of fallen apart?
When Terry says "Beach Boys", should we assume Surfonic-like tunes or more like Teenage Symphonies To God like "Soon"?
Just wondering.

Oh man, this is gonna be a GREAT year.
I'm a little curious to know who else is involved in LITTLE, big and BIG. This doesn't look like it will sound like DA (nor should it I guess), but it's great to see that Rob is intimately involved. I like his signature influences. We remember with fondness his tayloring of VH and KaI over 15 years ago.
Do we also maybe have the pleasure of involvement from Ed/Greg/Tim and others?
Thrilled regardless...

I think it's a Stunt type issue, and my understanding
of the sound is not like Surf music (Surfonic) but just inspired by Brian Wilson's song style.
About preorders, we are trying to get away from that...
hopefully we won't have to do that as much anymore.
I think between Terry, JT and the webstore a few of these
titles are being paid for inhouse and some of the money they
generate will go back into putting out more titles or reissues.
That is the goal, to not have to rely on 'labels' to put
funds into projects.. because when that happens, they recieve a large portion of the proffit. Which leaves little
to produce the next project with.
This summer will really help the band become more indipendant. With WEWH, Little Big, Big, Dr Edward Daniel Taylor Part II, Spittle & Phlegm DVD, Imaginarium II, Darn Floor Reissue, the Brian Wilson Tribute, Come As A Child,
Lost Dogs Reissue Scenic Routes, Lost Dogs Nazarene Crying Towel, 77s Direct, Mike roe's Orbis, Mike Roe's Say Your Prayers...
The guys are busy. There are other future projects being discussed as Terry and the guys finish up these. It also looks as if the Imaginarium II might be delayed as it gets restructured into purely a Mothman Soundtrack pending negotiations with the movies producer.

Agh, you guys are killin' me! |
|
On the one hand, I'm happy that 26+ years on, TsT is still very much active in writing and recording, because a lot of musicians don't have that longevity.
On the other hand, I can't afford his prolific tendencies! I didn't preorder WEWH, I'll get Little,Big but I have no idea what Big is, or the content of Dr. Taylor 2 or Imaginarium 2 (I don't even have 1!), and my wallet is surprisingly unsympathetic.
Someone get that man to chill out, will ya?

Ditto.
big, LITTLE
sounds great, but I still don't have all my Avacados in order...
And I haven't even begun to Imaginarium things yet.
Cheers!
Gus
P.S. I can't wait for it all to come out!

I hate to admit it, but I don't have Avocado yet either. I keep thinking I'll stumble across it in one of my music store hangouts, but it hasn't emerged yet. I'm a mess.

Yes everything is possible for reissue, and eventually
it all will be most likely.
Since DA is becoming more indipendant, it will be a lot easier for us to keep things in stock and in print.
If a label prints a CD, they get most of the CDs as well..
and they send em off to bunches of distributors and stores,
and we just get a portion. But if the band prints a CD,
we get all of them and then decide which distributors or
stores we want to sell some to... if we do.

Ok, cool.
) No, j.k., I wouldn't ask anybody to burn a TST project unless it became out of print and traded for a ridiculous price on e-bay, but we've already had that talk, haven't we....
