Terry Scott Taylor Christmas !?! |
|
I just recently received my pre-release of the new City on a Hill "It's Christmas Time," disc containing an excellent Christmas song by Terry called, Holy Emmanuel. The song begins with simple percussion and a beautiful melody on acoustic guitar, with Terry singing. It is a very innocent sounding and Jesus Christ exalting Christmas song. The disc reminds me somewhat of the "Noel" disc that the Steve H & Derri D did several years ago. Other artists of interest on the disc include Derri, Steve, Julie Miller, Caedmon's Call. Terry's song alone is worth the purchase. The disc releases on September 24.

Noel is a good CD. The only Christmas CD I would ever own. But with this news I guess I'll have to check this one out.

The DAWebstore sez it's out of stock, but I got mine last year from BMG Music Service. Depending on your tastes in music, yeah, I'd say it's worth it for me. You may want to check it out around Christmas at a local Christian bookstore (I know I'm gonna' get crucified for that one), they usually have demos to listen to. it would be a good way to check it out.

Thanks for the heads up on BMG. I found it on the site and saved the link. I'll order it with my next mass BMG ordering spree.
Now the question is, what other compelations contain TST/LD/DA songs?

The Chipmunk Song reminds me of The Swirling Eddies if I remember right. It's been a long time since I've listened to it.

We've got to support DA/TST. Heck all the Dogs.

I work in the Christian Booksellers industry. I'm a book, Bible, & music buyer for a chain of stores in the midwest and the music companies provide pre-releases on most new titles. Provident Music Group is distributing the "It's Christmas Time," City on a Hill title for Essential records and my Provident rep gave me a copy. I like to carry a fair selection of titles in our stores and stock titles from Galaxy 21, Grassroots, Solid Rock (L Norman), Silent Planet, Fingerprint, M8 (Alarma Book Set) and others... I even stock "Uncle Stonehill's Hat," which has not sold well. When "Welcome to Paradise" released on CD, we actually gave "Uncle Stonehill's Hat," away free with the purchase of "Welcome to Paradise." We're not an indie release specialist, but we try to do our part. I felt a need to say some of that based on the suspicious nature some folks have about Christian retail. I know that wouldn't be anyone who posts here... I want to also say that I believe it is important for the fans to support DA by ordering product on their site. They get money from me on a regular basis.

Here's the problem- Take Gift Horse by the Lost Doggies for example. If I buy it from the Lost dog site, it costs $15. Here are the prices at other sites-
Christiandiscs - $7.99
Musicforce- $8.99
Crossing- $9.99 (new), $6.99 (used)
Rad rockers- $12
Refugestore- $9.98
BMG- $17.98 (but you can get all the CDs you want for $1.99 after buying one full price-this month. The deals always change but you never really pay full price.)
Columbia House- $16.98 (2/3 off this month- $5.98 )
Half@eBay- starting from $6.98 used
eBay- whatever you can get.
Since all of these are legal ways to purchase this music, the artist should receive some sort of fee from the sale, although they may not profit on this particular transaction (used CDs).
You'd think with new CDs, the artist could get you the best deal because he's not feeding as many middlemen. But, in reality, the artist often has the worst deal. There are exceptions, like Grrrrrr records, which is actually cheaper than anywhere else for Rez band stuff.
I want to support the artist, but I can't afford to waste money.
