My comment is directed at their supplying a Vinyl plus a CDR rip. They seem to think that falls under fair use but it does not. If you own an original Vinyl you can make a copy or CDR rip and that falls under fair use. A third party cannot legally do it for you, just as you can't take a magazine to OfficeMax and have them copy articles out of it for you. Or if you have professional photos taken most places will not make copies or print them without a release form from the photographer. Unless you paid the photographer extra to own the rights.

What he is doing is selling a Vinyl and throwing in the CDR rip, problem is that would fall under distribution of a copy. Technically he could make copies of the vinyl but he should destroy them when he sells the vinyl not distribute them.

I am not suggesting I have not traded around bootlegs and made mix tapes and such for people over the years. Just saying this guy better be very careful about advertising what he is doing, the wrong person gets wind of it and he could find himself with a lot of legal problems.

Whats weird about this stuff is often it makes no rhyme or reason who companies or entities might go after. Almost like if they just hear about someone doing it and it's been a bad day they go after them. Like they reach a boiling point or something.

Does anyone remember the Vortexx christian rock collector paper that John Brzinsky sent out many eons ago? I was once told someone associated with that tiny rag got burned by some labels and got out of the business. I am also aware of Sam and T-Bone Burnett using some legal action over distribution of some of their stuff once. Who knows maybe they had a lot of trouble with that stuff a while and then the unfortunate guy came up on their radar.

I think he is a little confused on his understanding of copyright law concerning his 'Digital Transfers.' A lot of people are confused about it, and I was for a time.

While it's true that under "fair use" a person can make a rip or backup of copyrighted material they own for certain purposes. It is copyright infringement for an unauthorized third party to copy, distribute, perform, publicly display, or create something new from copyrighted material even if 'for free' and others on the internet are doing it. He does state it's a 'service.' I think technically he should destroy the backup when selling the original. There are also some differences concerning various forms of digital media like software, DVDs, books, etc.

His website is so small I doubt any copyright holder would go after him, they tend to go after people making money off the copies. But I have heard of it happening even to small entities in this sub-market. I personally know of one artist that went after someone for infringement and distribution, and I think M8 got into some hot water over some of that stuff. And many years ago some labels went after a guy who had a collector newsletter, he subsequently quit the business.

I remember feeling fairly devastated when Mark heard died. And when Rich Mullins died that hit us pretty hard mainly because we had just seen him at Cornerstone playing football with some kids. Both of them were part of that 'cornerstone-ish' community of people. We met Rich very briefly a couple of times, didn't really come close to 'knowing him.' We had hung out with Tom Howard briefly a time or two and when he died it still felt like a punch to the gut.

When it came to Larry Norman and Gene Eugene they were different for us, mainly because we knew it was coming with Larry and never got to know Gene really at all.

But I think a lot of it has to do with all of us being part of a weird little community or 'family,' these artists have/had special unique relationships with their fans. That and the fact that their music is personal and real as opposed to CCM fluff. We all empathize and relate to what they say through their songs and often most of us are square pegs or outsiders as well. The type of people cornerstone was made for.

It's like losing a brother, uncle or cousin.

All I've seen and heard was that Dan Michaels said Tim's health had been failing for a while now and that he died in his sleep. He wasn't found for a few days because he wasn't living near his family, he was in Illinois.

If you know the date of the show we can add it to the timeline. We rely heavily on people to give us information, Jerry gave us a lot of old dates and CCM had a bunch in the 80s but not all of them.

I remember when Mr. Buechner's dream was being recorded and Eric and I were in Nashville for I think it was GMA week ..while everyone else was busy Tim came over and asked to take a walk with him. We went out to his car and he played a rough mix of the album on his car stereo for us. It's not much, it's just one of those little moments, he didn't have to do it. But thats how Tim was, he wanted to give us a special sneak peak and you could tell he was eager to see what we thought. He was genuine, he was kind, he was honest.

A note from Uncle Terry:

My dear friend Tim Chandler is no longer in this world. It doesn’t seem possible. My mind hasn’t fully grasped this yet, but nevertheless, I feel soul-weary, beat up, dazed, out of breath. Tim was not just a friend, he was my champion, a passionate cheerleader who gave me the courage to venture beyond my supposed creative limitations and in so doing, lose my self-conscious restraints and give in to a kind of wild abandonment. To me, he will always be the heart and soul of Daniel Amos. A friend summed it up this way: “Tim always had your back.” This was true both artistically and personally. When Tim would call me (or vice-versa) he always had a story to tell, usually concerning his personal encounters with the absurdities of life, and I would often return the favor. Together we would invariably wind up breathless with tear-inducing laughter, and at the end of every one of these conversations we would say goodbye with “I love you brother.” Tim, like us all, had his demons but I will always remember him, above all else, for his humor, his tender-hearted kindness, his unwavering devotion to me as a friend, and his artistic skill and creative passion. He was truly God’s gift of grace to me.
Goodbye, Tim. I love you brother.
Terry

They own the rights to the Horrendous era music now. There are some other titles they own the rights to.

The only way that could possibly work is if we were able to gather DVD copies of all the videos everyone around the country made and find a soundboard recording and try to edit a mix of shows together. If we used just one show it would probably end up just looking like a bootleg, which is ok as long as it was a higher tier bootleg.

Anyone know of anyone with a multicamera soundboard show?

On kickster did you pledge a tier that had "+ Disc 4" ?

If you are sure you did, then either email daorders@danielamos.com or private message Audiori here on the board with your name and address. Or PM me and I will forward it to him.

I got your email address off your messageboard account and will send that to him.

They are mysteries... marvelous ones at that.

After All These Years and Fairy Tale were two songs dropped from the album, one of which ended up on the UK release. A good chunk of the other songs there are 24 track reworks of some of the 10 Biggies secular demos and a few other tracks.

It's probably too big for the attachment part of this site. Maybe a free file hosting site and then a link here.

There are bunch of them, maybe something like:
