Well, it should be Outdoor Elvis. Don't get me wrong, I love that album, but the original Alarma Records release is impossible to listen to without extra modification (bass boost, volume boost, boost boost).

Digital is utilitarian, and nothing wrong with it. The right tool for the job, etc. Vinyl is experiential. To me, the experience of listening to A Briefing For The Ascent on LP is a lot more emotional than the CD (and that's not even counting in the dialogue bits).

Ah. I'm in there somewhere.
I'm hoping that the vinyl offer goes well. It really does suit the DA sensibility and I'd love to see some reissues roll out in the format in the future (especially MotorCycle, being the most obvious beneficiary).
If I need to boot in more to cover the upgrade to vinyl, let me know in PM and I'll make it happen (when I get paid again).

What was the outcome of the vinyl LP conversation: throwing at the wall to see if it sticks, or was there substantial enough response to make it a consideration?

"Now That I Died" and...I think..."Our New Testament Best." I have heard "Love, Grace and Mercy" but I think that was Terry's acoustic demo.

Well Paste seemed to be fairly friendly with Phil Madeira. Think while he's promoting his new project to them he might be able to throw in a "kind word"?

Depends on what the label provides. Warners' CD-Rs usually have the full booklet (at least my copy of Violent Femmes "Why Do Birds Sing" did). I'm guessing the label uploads a PDF along with the digital music. If the label provides all the images, you get a book. If not, you get a single image card.

I suppose if Frontline has the rights for release, it is better these albums are available than not. It must be incredibly frustrating to have a body of work that is virtually nonexistent in the marketplace -- nothing to show.
I hope the artists are making something off the sales. I also hope this won't impede your ability to do your expanded editions.

Received my package today. Thanks, guys -- I shall wear them proudly. Onward to 2013.
Question, has there been any conversations about design or packaging yet? I know it's hard to make those decisions without songs to base it off of, but I was curious.

Having said all that I think it's still pretty cool to hear these songs from their genesis point, performed as they are on an acoustic guitar and nothing more. These tracks will likely evolve into much different songs, and from Terry's own statements they might not make the cut at all, in favor of other songs. It will all depend on the strength of the candidates at the end of the writing process.

For those who are joining in late, these aren't demos per-se; they're videos of Terry performing rough sketches of new songs. This is not to diminish the songs or the videos but to inform that anyone expecting mp3s of rough, band-produced tracks need to understand that Terry is still deep into the writing phase. The band hasn't even come together yet (to my knowledge).
