It's part of the wonderful "bad words" feature of the message board. It allows the administrators to "insert substitute words" for "bad words", and shows some of the great (or socially distorted) sense of humor that audiori has Big Grin

.eleanor is always changed to " eleanor "
.Mountain Dew becomes " Mountain Dew "
and there are several others that make me laugh, too

I actually prefer the acoustic version of SOTH, disc 2 of When Everyone Wore Hats.

I got a kick out of his response to the comment in the liner pages of Avacado Faultline.

My kids know that when they ride in my truck or the hotrod, that we listen to "daddy's music" :-)

I have even caught my oldest singing along to the 77's!

Everyone knows you can't listen to HD at volume 2. It's gotta be cranked up to 10

I believe my 10yr old enjoys the banter between the songs more than listening to the songs, on the BBQ cd's! My wife, on the other hand, doesn't find listening to the same jokes very funny.

Real Men Cry is great. If you're that worried about production, you need to get a life! Tongue

Well, normally production's the last thing on my mind. (Remember, y'r talking to the guy who played bass for five years before he realized what the pick-up switch was for.)

But when a CD by a band you normally love sounds sterile as all get-out, yet the same songs played live are WAY more enjoyable, let alone the version of "In the Distance" on the Dogs DVD being downright transformational (and again, y'r talking to the guy who normally hates live albums), there has to be SOME explanation for it. Where would YOU put it? Tongue

For guys that have had such incredible albums, with wonderful production, RMC was a very poor example of their wonderful work.

As Carl has stated, I would rather listen to Mike & Terry performing much of those songs on a BBQ cd than listen to the RMC versions, just because on many of the BBQ cd's being better quality recordings than the original RMC.

I still listen to my RMC cd, but as you stated, it's best listened to while I am in my hotrod, with the windows down, with the dull roar of the dual exhaust, to help filter the "fuzzy production".

I would grab "Late" and "Golden Field of Radioactive Crows", as they are fairly easy to find, and don't command a high price at the moment.

Pray Naked (self titled actually) is an incredible album, but will cost ya.

The only thing that bugged me a little on RMC is that the different drum style just seemed to not fit that well on a few songs, but not bad enough to be an issue.

I guess I need to get a life.

The production mix was way too muddy sounding to be considered good. It was like the inputs were peaking too hot, and so it was distorted.

I like to hear the instruments, with the type of clarity that had been found in their other recordings.

Will do, on a "request" basis. I may need to move it to the church's server, where it doesn't tie up my home bandwidth.

I love Naz Cryin' Towel, but then again...I love all the Lost Dogs recordings. My preference was more along the lines of "Scenic Routes" or "Little Red Ridin' Hood", but I have loved all the recordings.

Of all the recordings, tho, the only one that has disappointed me in any way, was the "production" on "Real Men Cry". There are some great songs on that album, but the production seemed too hot, and not very balanced. It's a shame, but I still dig the album anyway.

The only other thing that I would request of the guys, is this...PLEASE make the albums longer than 35 minutes. Ok...that is a very selfish request.

I agree with Bret on all counts here. Only more vehemently. Big Grin

This scares me! Shocked

Hey...I just figured out how to fix this problem.

Save up and play two CD's at a time!

I have Mutt & NCT in the player at one time, and it's about the same length as some of the earlier recordings.

Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool

Yes. I have a hair over 2 hours of the show. From Eve of Destruction/The Lust all the way to Joel.

(I also have the Springtown show that I promoted, the daMB MN show, DaLe's LiViNgRoOm show, and Sprinklerhead's backyard.)

I had a brainstorm while listening to Johnny Cash today. Instead of the boys doing more of their old songs, how about them going back and picking some of their favorite songs from others that may have had some formative effect on them early in their musical careers? I think that would be totally awesome, but probably hard to pull off because of the red tape and permission and money issues stuff... but I sure would like to hear something like this!

That would be awesome.

The family & I went to "Steal Your Dollar City" today, and I walked over to where the "pickers" was a'sittin', and listened to them for a bit. One tune that they did, and I sang along with them, too, was "I am a Pilgrim". As my daughter and I were trying to catch up with the rest of the family (we ditched them to ride roller coasters!), I asked her if she remembered hearing that before, and she popped off that it was a Lost Dogs song. I thought that was great!

BTW...we listened to the Atlanta Mike & Terry BBQ (with Derri) on the ride home Cool
