Loving TBM. Worried Waters is my early favorite. The whole album reminds me of Terry’s early solos.

Bibleland was the first DA I ever heard. I don’t remember how I got the cassette, but I was a baby christian at the time and my Keith Green ears just couldn’t handle it. Stone Away was all I could process, so I threw it away! No kidding.

Fast forward almost 30 years and it’s my favorite DA album. Would love it on vinyl.

Ditto with gratitude for all your work for HD and DA in general all these years. It has been a blessing to many. Wish it was more of a blessing to you.

As far as crowd-funded stuff goes, I’m just grateful that they can continue to do this at all. They’re certainly not doing it for the huge amounts of money they’re raking in. I consider myself pretty lucky to be counted as a fan of some of the best musicians and songwriters on earth. If LRRH takes another year I’ll be happy to get it. Glad they used Kickstarter instead of PledgeMusic! My 180gm black vinyl of Matthew Perryman Jones’ The Waking Hours disappeared like a dream...

I just checked on the Lost Dogs forum and there’s a lot of people lurking about. 247 guests - can that be right? I wonder how many know about the LLRH reissue. I’d post something, but my login doesn’t work.

Just received the boxed vinyl set. The care and quality is just bonkers amazing. You guys really outdid yourselves. Thanks for everything!

Crazy to think that DA actually had three albums worth of great music during the HD years, and now they’re all finally given their due.

Hello Aloha should’ve been on the radio.

Kickstarter

This is the album that introduced me to Terry Taylor and started me down the DA discovery trail. If I was stranded on a desert island with my sound system and a really long power cord, this is the first album I’d bring.

Reissued CD with bonus material
180gm gatefold vinyl
8 track tapes! (Only 25)

Maybe Dan Russell knows where they are. Still hoping he’ll remaster/reissue Heard’s last three Fingerprint albums with the deluxe vinyl treatment.

Horrendous Disc (the song) sounds amazing. There’s stuff in there I’ve never heard.
I Believe In You [vocal mix] is gorgeous.

Pretty much running out of superlatives. You guys killed it. Can’t (can) wait for the vinyl!

Definite kudos to the Townsends, et al!

Ron, I can relate to the need to bow out of the continual Kickstarters. When I told my wife of this absolutely crucial HD remaster/release on vinyl, etc., she looked at me with the eyes of a probation officer and said, "You've gone to that 'once in a lifetime vinyl release' well one too many times."

After Michael Roe's Guadalupe (crucial), Adam Again's Dig (crucial), Circle Slide (crucial), Stick & Stones (crucial), Pray Naked (crucial), Kerosene Halo (crucial), Derri's solo (crucial), Dan Russell's first album (crucial), and a handful of other purchases (crucial), she put the kaibosh on that! So I sold some stuff on Craigslist and voila! Horrendous Disc (crucial). I think I'm out of stuff to sell. I'm not sure how I'm gonna do the Drowning With Land in Sight vinyl. I had to pass on The Choir's Wide Eyed Wonder.

Update 13, Stretch Goal #5 03-31-2017 08:58 Forum: Upcoming Releases

"If we can hit $50,000 on this final day then we'll throw in (yes, for free!) a 3rd 12-inch colored vinyl lp of all 10 4-track demos (referred to affectionately by the band as the 10 Biggies) to the vinyl tiers. Call us crazy. Call us wacky. We can't help ourselves. If you haven't upped your pledge to the vinyl tier then now's the time to do it. This set will be the ultimate collectible for years to come and will be very limited. Please spread the word. Only 10 hours left!"

Wow.

I've heard some outstanding audiophile quality digital music and agree that vinyl can't achieve that kind of quality; however, what I meant by immersive isn't the audio quality, but the experience that vinyl provides with its inherent limitations, such as how the medium invites you to listen to an album as a whole, where the track order can be key to how you remember a song, for example, relative to the other songs; it's not so with the digital medium, because each song stands on its own as one single amongst other singles. Of course, new music doesn't live in that context of side A and side B, and track order isn't as important anymore. Even now when I listen to the Stones Tattoo You album (even in my car), I think of the songs as being either on the jamming side A or the slow and bluesy side B, which is a carryover from having first enjoyed it on a record player. That world is disappearing, but it's still enjoyable.

It's like camping. You can do just about everything better from your own home, more comfortably, and with higher quality amenities, but camping has a unique pleasure all its own because of what the limitations provide you in terms of experience. Of course, not everyone likes camping.

Nowadays I find that I'll only buy a vinyl album if it lends itself to being enjoyed as an album, like HD. Otherwise I'll only buy the few digital tunes I like from an album. It's rare that I buy a cd anymore, usually it's because the whole album is killer but it's not available on vinyl.

For many, the draw of a vinyl record today is the same as it was 40 years ago: it's more of an immersive listening event, more about the experience of an album, side A - side B. Especially with albums that are thematic or conceptual (like HD, Pink Floyd's The Wall, Planet P Project's eponymous, etc.). I think the same is true of more recent albums like Matt Pond PA's The Dark Leaves or Winter Lives, which have such a perfect pacing and warmth that, for me, they're uniquely enjoyable when you sit down by a turntable and immerse yourself in the artistry without the distraction of traffic, for example.

My Denon 300-F TT only plays 33 1/3 or 45 rpm, so I'm out on the 78, but I understand that LPs mastered at 45 rpm sound better(?)... so, maybe that's a stretch goal #3? If the LP is currently only going to be standard 140 or 150gm, then I'd rather a stretch goal for 180gm than anything else. I'm reserving $$ to see if that becomes a possibility.
