I have really enjoyed the new CD, MUTT. Perhaps it helped to see the Lost Dogs play live (and watch Steve do his groovy thing on precussions) before hearing the CD (but I don't think so). Also, I have never had much exposure to The Chior or 77's so many of the songs are actually new to me and I don't have any preconceived notions about those songs. I can't find any fault with the CD, really (other than it is too short -- but how many times does that have to be said?).

Someone can always find fault with something, though, and there is no way even a band as gifted as the Lost Dogs are can please everybody all the time. The problem I have always had with critics is that basically, what they are doing is stating their opinion (or bias in some cases). Take a typical movie: one critic raves about it and another thinks it stinks. Which one is right?

Anyway, as TST says: "Don't lay your hate on me bro!"

Last night's LD show in Derwood, MD... 07-08-2004 05:35 Forum: General Discussion

Well, it was incredible! I arrived at Rock Creek Church in Derwood, MD around 6:35PM to find the power was out and Ben was making plans to have the show outside if the power did not come back on by 7:00PM. Miraculously, the power was restored a little before 7:00PM. Several of us helped carry the band’s equipment into the auditorium where they set up and performed one of the most amazing and intimate shows I think I have ever seen. There was a good turnout (over 160 it think) many who had never heard the Lost Dogs before. The audience was really into it and the band played to the energy level with true style. I think the play list was similar to that posted by bereal (see her post, My Fabulous Night With…) but I do not remember everything. With all the excitement getting started and then two encores, who knows? Anyway, it was a truly unforgettable experience and, of course, the band members were very approachable after the show – signing autographs and talking with the crowd. The new CD, Mutt, is excellent.

I’d like to thank Ben and the rest of the folks at Rock Creek Church for hosting the event and doing such a great job of bringing it all together! It was great!!!

Hi Tweed and Smoke. Great to hear that you will be at the July 7 show. I am really looking forward to it. One correction: I did not mean to give the impression that I am a pastor (I am not) when I refered to 'my congregation' - I just meant 'the congrgation I attend'. Didn't mean to misrepresent anything. I guess my perceived spiritual status just slipped a few notches - Oh well! Would still be nice to meet you at the show.

Another 'problem' with exposure for the Lost Dogs and DA is they do not get any radio time. I listen to a few Christian radio stations in my area regularly and have never heard a Lost Dogs or DA song. When Nazarene Crying Towel came out I sent requests and emails to these stations and didn't even get a nod. I don't know if this problem is because of the label they are on or what. But when my church sends our teen group to concerts and such it is Jars of Clay, Caemdon's Call and bands like that. These bands get alot of radio time and exposure and the younger generation of Christians knows who they are and are familiar with their music. I have sent a general invitation to my congregation to attend the July 7 Lost Dogs concert and have gotten no responses. The truth is that nobody knows who they are.

audiori,

First of all, I wasn't making generalities. I was expressing my own experience/situation (something you don't seem to have much concern for).

Secondly, Driver8's opinion was dead on and you totally dismissed it with yet another defensive diatribe.

I am still waiting for things that were ordered in March, May and June. I'm sure you have your reasons for not shipping them but this has been a little frustrating for me and yesterday was the first time I said anything about it.

Your business model is obviouly flawed. As long as you continue to treat customers this way you will always have complaints. Trying to guilt the customer into not complaining because it may scare someone off is pretty weak in my opinion.

The reviews of this sound awesome. I would love to order it today but as it is, I have 3 things on order from the webstore for which I have been waiting for some time and they still have not come. On top of that, when I send emails to inquire about my orders I don't get any reply.

I think this "support the band because we are all one big happy family" thing is nice but it seems to be a one-way street. The only 'family resemblance' I can see is that placing an order at the webstore is like loaning money to your deadbeat brother-in-law. Who knows when, or if, you will ever get it back.

And, yes, I am in a bad mood today. But I still want (and deserve to get) what I have already paid for.

I just recently (about a month or so ago) subscribed to the Avacado Club but have not received anything yet. I missed out on #1 and #2 and am excited to see what I get out of this. Is it really worth the $20.00?

The only DA concert I've seen was for the Fearful Symmetry release at the Flood Zone in Richmond, VA. It was an awesome show and Terry lead a conga line at that show too.

Would love to have the FS T-shirt. It was cool.
