Our friend and my wonderful brother Larry passed away at 2:45 Sunday morning.
Larry is no longer with us. He is as he said "In another land"
My prayers go out to his family at this time.

Larry is back in the hospital and is in need of prayer.
He's got to get better if cooperation is needed for the rerelease.
Pray for his legs, they aren't healing .

That's cool.
There are things that I wouldn't buy from Larry's site, just because.
But I'll be the first one to lay down a prayer for the guy.
Some time back Larry had the whole center console of a plane fall down on his head. Messed him up for years to where he couldn't remember his songs or even lyrics to the songs if he performed them.
So during that time(a 10 year span approx.) not much happened with him or Solid Rock. I wonder if the time span was around HD and the accident.

OK, just gave HD a full listen.
It sounded better on a stereo and was able to make out the words better than on a PC set of speakers.
Since I have just listened to the music for the first time since the album came out, you guys have a little bit of a jump on me. HD was good and given some time to listen to it more, I will probably appreciate it more. Probably not as good as Shotgun, but let me get used to it.
I would probably freak out if it was announced that there were extra takes of Shotgun laying around, so I can sence your urgency to this disk.
I don't have a clue of what is to be in HD and what isn't........but the album itself is good.
OK, that aside....maybe lighten up on Larry a little bit. Right now, he is lucky to be alive. Maybe God has kept him on this world a little bit longer to tick you guys off on the release of the HD stuff. I don't know.
He has serious health issues that I won't discuss here, but what would help him out is if everybody prayed for him.
So that he would get some strength back and heal his legs.
Possibly through prayer, everybody might get what they want.
Wouldn't that be cool.

I'm coming from the angle that I have never heard HD before and I'm trying to evaluate it as the album after Shotgun Angel.
I'm kind of leaning towards the HD Cd isn't all that great, quality or not.

Larry Norman just seems to be a wacko these days. at least he isn't accused of killing anyone like Phil Spector, and isn't trying to change colors or do other things like the grand pedobino.

Ya know, people just can't be happy with accepting the music as being something different, or something new, without all this negative criticism.
Just be happy that it is, for the most part, something that hasn't been heard before and accept it as that. If it is to expensive, then don't buy it.
Way to many complaints coming from this thread.
How is that for taking someone to task!!

I am listening to HD for the first time and I'm still not sure about it. I loved Shotgun Angel, and was told I would like HD, but not sure yet.

Larry did a nice write up on the album. How close is it to the origional release?
Here is the write up.
For the very first time, Horrendous Disc is being presented in its entirety on CD - with unreleased bonus tracks.
What can be said about Horrendous Disc? Because of the hype and controversy it has possibly become Daniel Amos' most famous album. Because it has sold so well over the last 28 years it has probably reached its saturation point and every stock photo which could be included in the CD booklet has probably already been seen.
We have nothing to add to the thousands of words already written about Horrendous Disc by CCM Magazine, Daniel Amos and many other writers. We are hesitant to even try. The music certainly speaks for itself. So just listen to the music and enjoy this very unique album.

Right now I believe he is in the hospital with a very serious leg infection. So that might be the reason he is being so quiet.
Haven't heard how his progress is going, but will do if anything is heard.

Good for you guys that you can make work around plans. To bad Larry is missing out on a blessing that God gives to us when we "give" to others.
I know Larry has been giving all of his life in his Ministry and has been continuing to give, but as I get older, I find out that it just doesn't matter in the bigger picture of "Glory".
Hey, here is an idea, Just change the name of the album. You know like from "Horrendous Disk" to Something like "Awful Platter".
It worked for the album from "Frizbee" to "Slinky".
Can't we all just get along.

Speaking of unreleased tapes-----
Myron, have you ever heard of Rev. Milton Brunson and the Thompson community singers. Or The locally known to Chicago, Chase with Jimmy Peterick? Or how about The Good News Circle? I have some remixed studio tapes from masters of these guys. Even some live Lamb from the mid 70's.
Have had these in the vault for 30 years and nobody has listened to this stuff, (except myself).
None of it is for sale, I was a student and used these as training material.

Thanks Myron, I knew that I could depend on your honest opinion. I think I will rush right over to Larry Norman's web site and order the CD.
Then I will patiently wait to see if Larry releases the tapes to DA.
I have stated that I think Larry should release the tapes as people are into unreleased and obscure tracks.(here is your hint myron)

I've noticed that Larry isn't on the same time frame as the rest of us because of his illness. Sometimes if he says he is going to do something in a week or two, it ends up being 6 mo. to a year.
I realise he needs to keep his strength up and that is accomplished by sleep and proper nutrient intake, but I think he needs to realise this time table issue. I'm not dissing Larry, just stating the obvious. Lets pray for him and his health so that he will realize that there are others that enjoy listening to and discovering hidden archives of music and it would be a sin not to share it.
Kind of like--------"HIDE IT UNDER A BUSHEL, NO------"

Wow, that's cool. Although I would consider side two of Shotgun Angel more high energy country rock than just rock or country. But it is good for the information and I appreciate it.
hEY MYRON, IF YOU ARE OUT THERE, What is your take on the DA/ HD /SA types of styles. I know you are kind of expert on things like this and wanted your opinion. Thanks.
I think I see the underbrush calling. I might need to scope out some other answers.
