Thread: DA show in Franklin, IN |
|
Saw the guys in Franklin last night. It far exceeded my expectations. I was expected a somewhat mellow presentation, but they ROCKED. If you have a chance to see this tour, I recommend you do so. Trust me, it's worth it for Jerry's facial expressions alone. He does this one a lot:
Seriously, it was fantastic. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed the album very much, especially the second half. The only minor quibble I have is with the acoustic remake of The Twist. I didn't care for the alterations (especially vocally). That's one of my favorite Terry songs and I just found this version rather lackluster. Otherwise, a very enjoyable listening experience.

So if Terry has the option to record 30 songs and spend less time making sure the details of each song are just right or 10 songs but can spend 3x the time on each song, I'd rather he make the 10 songs not the 30. |
If they sound as good as MBD, I'll take the 30.

I can't believe some of you are actually complaining that Terry gave you TOO MANY SONGS. People are funny.

I'd LOVE another double album, but I'll settle for 14 fantastic songs on one disc.
(actually....I'll settle for whatever they give me)

Now that would be some interesting info. I'd love to see the numbers compared.

Now they know, well before Christmas.

maybe when the next title is announced you should consider some kind of special sales deal and capture some of the $ associated with the rarity of DA recordings. for example, you could say up front that the price will increase for the last 100, then 50, then 10 copies of a title you have left?! that might encourage people to order sooner instead of later. |
Dude, you are the most passive-aggressive person I've ever seen. |
i actually thought it was a pretty fine suggestion.

I'm sure you did.

That's good enough for me. Carry on (as long as you don't add things to the re-released third disc. I HATE that!).

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but wasn't the whole point of the third disc to reward and show gratitude to the people who pre-ordered? Kinda defeats the purpose of the whole thing if you're going to give it to everyone else later.
That said, I didn't pay any extra for it and don't really mind if that's what you guys want to do.

Honestly, I think the "bare bones single disc" idea would be a waste of time and money. I just don't see enough people being interested in that option for it to be financially worth it. Most of us DA/Terry fans are hardcore, and (speaking for myself, anyway) will always opt for the deluxe version of an album when it's offered.
Also, I personally don't buy digital download versions of albums. I love CDs. I will always love CDs. I'm all for you guys "deluxing" the heck out of the back catalog, and encourage you to cram each release with as many bells and whistles as possible.
