 Thread: Imagine a reality where... |

Hey friends,
Imagine a town where people are pretty much the same as they are anywhere in the world, but the back drop to what makes the daily dramas of life, they are completely turned upon their heads and the lesser has become the greater--where art and musical references are not what they are now. Instead, the music of TS Taylor, The Dogs, The Choir, Plumb, Starflyer 59, Sean Thomas Eugene, Eve Selis, Aunt Betty's Ford, D.A.S., and others you may not have heard of--these are the household references across the Americas and Europe and Asia.
Presently, 99.9 KWTH Snowline is relayed through Anchorage AK, and streamed through Live 365. I listen through my living room television tivo home theater and it rocks--it lightens my heart. It is SO very strange to enter such a world as I've described--whether at home or at my place of work.
Slated for mid to late January, Snowline's one church will hold a live video cast through the live stream page of www.the-mass.org (that's my site). This is the same streaming page where you can watch live vj/radio casts from Snowline that include call-ins. These casts will feature interviews with artists (including people like Jeff Elbel and Brian Healy). Some interviews will be call in.
Live video/radio casts will also be viewable from Facebook (if you friend up with vj/dj Andreivich) or through the Stickham site.
Meanwhile, a book is being written all about Snowline and the unique slice of civilization that it is. This book will hopefully be released Christmas 2011.
There are many other options/possibilities getting chatted up even now and I am very excited to be at the table. I post here this mostly because beyond my intrigue over Snowline, it is a world where Terry and others who are dear to me, to us, are celebrated the way WE have always believed they ought to have been. As I said, to tune in almost makes me forget where I am at times.

Well, perhaps the audiori can steer you to the archives--in the right direction. But if you check out the DA timeline beginning around 2002, you will begin to get the story.
It began with my late son Andrew's final days in the hospital and a special visit from TS Taylor. Anybody else wanna jump in here? I always appreciate other people's takes on the story.

My dear friends,
Recently I spoke with Derri, Mike, and Terry and we all missed the yearly Come As A Child (or not at all) Christmas celebrations. Perhaps we'll do Christmas in July, or perhaps it'll take another year to get back into motion (with the economy and all). But we were all nostalgic. I felt the desire to at least do a little something this Christmas.
This next Wednesday at 6:00 PM [PAC time] I will perform a CAACONAA Christmas concert from my livingroom, tree-side, via podcast. For those who don't know me...maybe not so much. For those of you who have followed the story from the beginning, I hope it will be a bit of a happy reunion.
To listen and watch the gig, go to the "Live Stream" page at www.the-mass.org and (I believe) click on the stickam viewing screen. Headphones or good speakers are the only real way to listen in with any quality.
I've been very sick the last couple of months and am getting better, so (good news) I won't be speaking at all during this concerto. I want to take a moment to say a special merry Christmas and eternal thankx to Terry, Mike, Derri, Wes Berlin, Rich Brimer, Jeff Elbel, Brian Healy, Todd Zeller, Rob & Carolee, and the Townsend brothers. Much love to all of you who were sharing in the story as it happened eight years ago right here on these boards.
Last word: the best way to share in this concert is to get a free Stickham account and watch there, where you can text with other viewers, even use your own web cam to see each other as you watch.

Last night the Dogs gave a spectacular show in Lake Steven's Washington--well not actually in the lake.
The set was a perfect mix of Doggy music from throughout the years, including a few from the highly anticipated "Route 66" album. The "Route" tunes were good enough to truly whet my appetite for the new CD.
Atop of that, it was a much needed reunion with the guys and the idea of another Christmas AAR concert (a reunion sort of thing) was bandied about. Perhaps Christmas in July!
At any rate, it was a fabulous evening and both band and crowd (yes, a packed house) were in good form!
Reveling in it all...

People say lots of things, don't we? Including, "Hey theo! When you gonna release something new?! We need new stuff!" And then they don't buy. It's just how life is and having had a thread of down times I decided to verbalize my frustration.
Peace, my friends. I wouldn't want to leave these comments as if I didn't appreciate all the good times and support there has been.
The conversations surrounding what brought on the new CD will be found in an OT thread. After all, this board is for DA. CAACONAA was "On T" but following that, my own projects were "Off T" so that's where it was.
But no matter. I'll try and get the CD available at the gift chalet at snow globe studio. But we're all poor, most of us here--so there is no expectation. Hope that clears and bewilderment and leaves us at peace.

No, no! The snow don't go! Just wrapping up the AA years and then (hopefully) making it available on DVD.
The last time I was really on DAMB y'all requested a new CD. I put it together at some expense and announced. Not one of them sold. Jeff Elbel even said it was the best thing I'd ever put out. Still nobody bought it.
So forgive me. I love you all truly! But "say it ain't so"?? I don't think the Snow Globe going or staying is that significant.

Just to let you all know, everything Andy's Angels and/or Theo is now available via CD BABY: and that is now the only way to get such projects.
An aside: Snow Globe Studio is working on a DVD that captures the Andy's Angels' years with Terry, Derri, Mike, Jeff Elbel, DAS, Rob Watson and others.

Yah, Joey. You and Brimer the only two who stood up and danced during, "Lets Spin."
200+ people from all over the NW and CA. That was a great night. I have a lot of Angels' video, but converting it to digital is the problem. I'll probably have to go out and buy a coverter. Bummer. 
I have a a good deal of AAR Xmas video (with me, terry, mike mostly--some with derri and jeff elbel too). But I'll take more from anybody who has any. Oh! Especially video of the one at Club Pariso or whatever in Eugene. Mike and I were falling over laughing (his fault) during Blue Christmas.

What Wes said. Terry has made his living producing. He trusts his own instincts implicitly.
He does, however, respect other people of huge accomplishment. It would be under such circumstance that he would entrust his own art to somebody else.

I know for a fact he thinks Wilco is brilliant and that he has a copy of the double DVD thingy. I tried to get into Wilco for sake of friendship with T. and JT but just didn't get them for some reason.
I know that one of his fave all time bands is Crowded House.
The first time T. picked me up in SoCal (he about kicked my burro for not waiting for him at John Wayne...lol) he had his car radio tuned into an oldies station, turned down low, playing stuff like the Association and Carol King.
I know that Roe gives Christmas in the Girage a spin once each year. LOL

James, you mentioned the Andy movie. Just thot I'd mention that that movie is included on the second CAACONAA cd--Like An Orange To A Child--and it plays on your computer.

Every time I think of meeting Wes at C-Stone I laugh (the story has been told here before), but I also think of the Bible story where Jesus saw the disciple sitting by the tree before the disciple ever came to the Lord.
Why? Because it had been a hot muggy day, it was finally starting to cool down a tad and there was this guy standing under a tree and he knew who I was, tho' I didn't know him.
And that was a story all of itself just seeing its genesis.
So much goodness in just one life.

That was kind of a brutal afternoon. We had been awaiting arrival of the film (put together by Todd Zeller of Eden Z Films). So when it played there in the flickerings tent, it was the first time any of us had viewed it.
Terry & I sat in the front row doing that snort/choke thing you do when you are involuntarily moved emotionally. Then we got up and played.
I don't know that in all the tours and presentations afterwards that there was ever quite so candid an event. Everybody in the tent was very gracious. It was a small group. Terry and I packed up and left the tent. As soon as we were out back and alone, he stopped, turned to me and said, "I hope you realize that God was in there."
No doubt about it.

The day I met you and Wes, I gave you both a ride to the motel room in my mufferless 1991 Ford Ranger.
I offered the ride and said, "There is only one seat-belt."
"Whatever," came the reply from Wes, who was wearing sunglasses.
I don't remember what time it was, but the sun had set several hours before.
I don't even remember who road on the hump, but I think it may have been the SnowMan.

It's after midnight and I can't sleep. Probably not the best time to recollect emotive-memories. But, oh well, here goes:
I was at my first C-Stone. I had arrive a little later than expected. I shared a room with (then manager) J.T. Feavel. My luggage hadn't caught up with me and JT insisted I take a free "Little-Big" T-shirt and change into it. Moments later Roe walked into the room. We had only met once previously at the first Andy's Angels Christmas gig near Seattle. It was a warm reunion and I was greatly warmed.
JT had a "welcome to the gang" gift pack for me of copies of all the new releases from Dogs and associated such and such (77s, DA, etc). I was really pleased to get my Mr. B release with the liner notes in it about Andy.
Down a few doors was the first night at C-Stone gathering in Dougherty's room. I reunited with Terry and met Derri, Steve H., Mark B, Tim, and others. Jeff Elbel was in the room but I wouldn't really meet him until the next day, back-stage at his gig and was embarrassed that I didn't recall meeting him the night before. Too many new faces all at once.
I had a great chat with Tim C. on the balcony. He is one of the most personable persons in God's universe whom you could have the fortune to meet. He makes you feel as though you are the center of his universe for the time in which you share together. That is a gift. A couple nights later I would splurge for our late night dinner. It was "Burger" run and didn't then realize the irony as I offered him, "Berger?" He declined.
At any rate, that first night... I went back to the hotel room and JT handed me a copy of the "single C-Stone release" for the CAACONAA project which included "Andrie" (an acoustic version) and the Dogs new rendition of "Lord, protect my child."
I took it down to my rent-a-car and listened alone. I was in a state of joy and satisfaction. And then it came to the part where Terry's voice chimes in and I choked, tears filling my eyes. "We did it," I whispered aloud to the Host that must have been there in the car with me. My late son was honored and people I never thought I would ever meet had lent their God-given gifts to make the sound happen and the joy more wondrous than I could have imagined.
The best part was yet to come; life long friendships.
