I agree with DwDunphy. Awesome evening.

Thanks to Terry Taylor, Steve Hindalong, Andrew Taylor, Dan Zimmerman, and most of all, Dean & Tami for hosting. The hospitality, fellow fans, and atmosphere were quite pleasant and inviting. I look forward to next Tuesday.

-Michael Gross

P.S. Anyone else think Andrew looked like Jimmy Page up there? It's gotta be the hair, but still... cool. I told him as much.

Hey - long see no time!

Cool

Hey, waka! I don't get onto threads as much as I'd like, but I figure I'll be around here (and on Mike Roe's site soon) with the concert happening.

As for last night, my mom-in-law put it succinctly on her Facebook page:

(I) had way too much fun at the concert last night...reminded me of college...being in somebody's basement, eating, drinking, playing the guitar. Cool, man, very cool.

Just looked there via Google (never been to T&N's site before). They only have "Unsaid" now.

I really doubt it. Like I said in an earlier post in this thread, I can't really afford to release a new Dogs DVD because the current release isn't selling. Furthermore, I can't see re-releasing the first "Via Chicago" for the 50 people that might buy it when I will have to spend $$$ for a minimum of 1000 copies. If I can find a high quality way of re-releasing stuff in very small numbers, then sure....but until then....no.

jeffrey k.

Frown I'll look for a used copy. Thanks, Jeffrey.

Second....the footage and audio from the show is actually really cool. The issue is whether or not Lost Dog fans actually WANT another Dogs DVD.

I say this because the "Via Chicago" follow-up we released last December has sold all of (roughly) 250 copies in 8 and a half months. That is really bad. I literally have boxes and boxes of unsold DVD's in the label office....and the production costs have yet to be paid back.

So....as of now, I have a rough mix of the audio from the East Troy studio show, and all the footage from the cameras...but nothing is edited....and the chances are it will remain that way until I can pay to have it done.....which requires older releases to actually sell.

jeffrey k.

Yeah the seccond Via Chicago DVD, its a weird thing I still think people see it and think its the first one and not a follow up. Therefore concluding they already have it, the average fan doesn't pay attention to details.

To the second point, thats exactly why we end up editing film and all that as cheaply as possible. If we hadn't done that, we probably would of only put out Spittle and Phlegm and never put out another DVD.

If you wanted we could edit together a test of that footage for free, depending on what format it is in. You could use it or scrap it, up to you, but then you could try and keep the cost down to just manufacturing. In which case you wouldn't need to sell very many to recoup costs, unless of course there are other costs already involved such as filming or whatnot.

Great. Now I have to melt down the statue of Baal that I'd started re-shaping into a Lost Dogs statue. I had Mike, Terry, and Derri as the three heads of Cerberus, with Steve in front of the dog's body as the handler (since he "keeps the beat"). Wink I'll make a hockey trophy out of it now, I guess.

To be sure.

It's weird meeting musicians whose music you love. I think that people get nervous, not because they've put them on a pedestal, but because you feel like you know them, and yet you do not know them at all. It's hard to know what to say to someone who has given you the soundtrack to your successes and failures, your triumphs and tragedies. I don't hold Mike Roe on a pedestal, but every time I talk to him after a show, I don't do it very well. Big Grin

I was like that with Mike at the July 2006 show, but recovered for the 2007 show. I did not get a chance to talk to Terry in 2006, but I was able to do so this year and my only regret is that I did not get the chance to speak with him last year. They're all great guys.

You poor, poor man! Crying

I'm catching up! I still have to get:

Shotgun Angel
Horrendous Disc
¡Alarma!
Dopplegänger
Vox Humana
Fearful Symmetry
Darn Floor - Big Bite
Songs of the Heart

I did order WEWH, which I understand is "Songs of the Heart" in a deluxe sort of package. After that arrives, my wallet needs some time to resuscitate. The good news is my birthday is next month. Big Grin

Oh yeah. I am done buying for a while now. I want to get more DA stuff, but I am up to my ears (pun intended) in audio goodness. I thank God for my job because I can bring my iPod in, hook it up and listen to MY music while I work. It's a great blessing after working as a surveyor (no music in the field or sports talk in the truck, yuck!) and other office jobs with no music at all.

The Prayer Chain (probably my #1 favorite band) has a few good screams. "Mercy" from The Neverland Sessions/Whirlpool EP kicks off the album(s) nicely.

I'm fond of the scream in the Lost Dogs' "Get Me Ready". That's the only one I can recall at the moment.

Great review. I just received Zoom Daddy in the mail yesterday. My only regret is not receiving it in 1994. Now, to work on getting Outdoor Elvis and Let's Spin.

As for the new record, TMTSTM is fantastic, front to back. There aren't many CD's nowadays that one can listen to without hitting the skip forward button at least once (and usually much more than once). Thanks for the song-by-song review, jiminy!

The above are 2 links given to me on the Lost Dogs site. Apparently, they have slots where really good music is played (Lost Dogs, TST, DA, etc.).
