uvulapie -- you playin' much these days?

Posted by uvulapie on 04-22-2005 at14:00:

  Lack of skills

The last three months I've hardly played a bit what with fixing up one 80-year old house to sell and another 80-year old house to live in. But that's all slowing down somewhat so I've been able to sneak down to play more. I'm actually starting to get that space set up how I like it and plan to have it such that I can leave everything plugged in, amps and effects pedals, so when the muse strikes I can just flip a few switches and have at it. One thing that's got me eager is to hook things up so my bass amp and wee guitar amp can be left/right channels for stereo effects. Then will come the disco ball, fog machine, incense, peppermints, and garden gnome figurines. I recently picked up an Alesis compressor for $40 and have been surprised at how much I like it's subtle effect on my sound, what with my normal penchant for extreme effects.

How about you? Played any studio sessions I can include on the discography? Do you ever trade songs with Greg via el internet?

hey, bereal! how ya feelin'?

Posted by bereal on 04-22-2005 at14:36:

Thanks for asking. I'm feelin' great, cept I'm about ready to pop. I only have 3 weeks to the due date, and I don't think I'll make it that long. MF and I are ready for baby to be here, and for me to regain some mobility. It is getting harder and harder to walk and breathe because this baby is so big, and I'm not that big (only 5'3.5" with a very short torso ~ most of my short height is my legs!)

MF and I are going to try to get a site going for pictures soon so I'll put the link in a new thread soon! Pleased

  New Choir

Is the new Choir out yet? I've been waiting for it but it hasn't graced my mailbox yet.

Yup. I got mine on Tuesday, but I hear that Dan was mailing them out in batches, the first going out Monday, and I don't know when he'll be finished. Hope you get yours soon. It is wonderful!!! Pleased

These stories make me wanna contact a bunch of different artists and start compiling a book of road stories.... stories like the ones you've told here Tim.. then get some from Dan, Derri & Steve, the 77s, Terry, Keaggy, Stonehill, Steve Taylor, T-Bone Burnett, the Ragamuffins, etc, etc, etc.... maybe Dan Russell or someone could contribute some Mark Heard stories.... maybe take it to CCM or somebody like that and see if they'd publish it.

I think it'd make a great book. I know Terry's been writing some, so I'd want to make sure I wasn't taking any of his stories - but I'm sure we could come up with enough new material to be worth it.

The trick would be getting them to write them in this sort of detail.

Hmmm.....

Awesome Idea audiori. Pursue that one Tongue

Great idea! Pleased I'd buy it.

We'll send some emails out and see how many people are interested..

The good thing is that no one would have to contribute much.. if we had 30 artists and each one contributed a few stories, we'd probably be able to fill a small book pretty easily.

The downside would be someone like CCM-Books would probably want an inspirational meaning to it all... which, this would have no meaning at all other than just to be fun to read. We may have to try Cornerstone Press or someone that is more willing to print a wider variety of books. The publishing stuff can come later though... the first goal would be to get it compiled. If necessary, we could publish it ourselves.
