  Terry's vocal performance on SOTH

I can't believe that critics dissed his singing on Songs of the Heart. Loss of range my #%^&^$. This is one of his best performacnes ever! He sounds like Lou Reed, ala New York. So there.

RE: Terry's vocal performance on SOTH

I actually prefer the acoustic version of SOTH, disc 2 of When Everyone Wore Hats.

I got a kick out of his response to the comment in the liner pages of Avacado Faultline.

Yeah I think the reviewer didn't "get it", every album
is very different and calls for different vocal styles.
The vocal style on Outdoor Elvis is nothing like that
on Songs Of The Heart, which is nothing like that on
Buechners Dream....

to me I sensed I got it right away. SOTH was my "re-introduction" to DA.
Knowing a bit of his outrageousnesss through the Eddies,
I could tell it was a concept recording, and Terry was using a sort of Karouac, tired, weary-sing speak voice as a good storyteller would.....

If theres any doubt- listen to things done afterward, it can be a sweet as Aint Gonna Fight it - both the first and most recent time he dun it.

The similarity to New York is uncanny, no?

I think the song "WEWH" may be one of my top 2 or three favorites.

There are a few lines in the song that just about break me every time I hear it.

"Here's to the long lost world of chain-smoking dreamers, war & baseball hereos..."

and "they traced the moral chain of being & filmed it all in Black & white."

I hate to say it, but I get the feeling Terry doesn't take criticism well. But it was dumb criticism anyway, so it's all good.

No I don't think he does.
