You guys may have the count right, but you're all barking up the wrong tree.

This is one of those classic misunderstood lyrics. What Uncle Terry is actually talking about is "Miss Treespot," his beloved 5th grade teacher. He used to bring her flowers every morning, which she would place behind her ears. He alludes to this also in the first line of "Grace Is The Smell Of Rain: "They call her flower ears..."

Please, people do your homework!!

By the way, the Mystery Spot has nothing on Kentucky's own "Golgotha Fun Park" which was probably the inspiration for "Bibleland":

  Wait... here's another one!

Just to update the "Mystery Spot" count (and to redeem myself from my snarky previous post...)

"Fingertips" (on Mr. Buechner's Dream) popped up on my iPod's shuffle mode yesterday, and I remembered this thread.

About :33 seconds in:

Someone's coming (believe it or not)
I hear them breathing (in the mystery spot)

cha-ching!

"Jesus and his astronauts
going down the mystery spot"

Or that's what the end of "Who's Who Here" sounds like to me...

Posted by bereal on 02-27-2005 at23:30:

Or would that be:
quote:
Jason and his argonauts
Hanging out in parking lots

Posted by PuP on 03-02-2005 at00:48:

That's the first verse. At the end, in the background, I swear they're singing
quote:

Jesus and his astronauts
Going down the mystery spot

Posted by PuP on 03-02-2005 at00:50:

I just pulled out the liner notes. They say,
quote:
Jesus and his astronauts
Going to the perfect spot

But I still say it sounds like "mystery spot" when they sing it.

Yes, they didn't print the .grey poop'on word in the lyrics either Tongue

When ever I listen I still hear the word CHIT. I think it's either your dirty minds Tongue or an accent thing. But I hear Chit.

That's what the lyrics say...but I don't believe it! Tongue

I played "Beautiful Martyr" before Bible study last night, as folks were hanging out. I would have liked to play the album through...but I was sure to not play track 5! Wink

You know I have listened close many times thinking the same thing...
Is it just that I want to hear grey poop'on?

But that's what I hear everytime. Same for Red, White & Blue.
On the Damb It CD, Wes berlin songs "sure" and it does not sound the same!

Someone on the dadl was trying to say in "Virgin Falls" Terry sings.grey poop'on in that song, but I don't hear it there.

Woos us like a lover versus Who's a sly gay lover

Posted by dennis on 03-02-2005 at17:33:

That's because Terry sings "a" instead of "uh."
