  Naked Guy doing sit-ups

We have joked about how the cover of Fearful Symmetry is a naked guy doing st-ups but seriously what do you think all the imagry symbolises?

And which of you came to this post looking for a naked guy? Tongue

The awesomeness of God overwhelms the man who feels naked before Him? I once saw a church in Kentucky, Virginia, somewhere which had a stream flowing under it. Likely here the river flows from the source of life to the one who needs it. But this is just an impression.

"I go under then rise up" Baptism! Innocent like Adam before the great sin.

I could be wrong. It may have something to do with a nude beach.

I always thought he was running away and ducking, you know sort of afraid of something...

or maybe it's about this song;

Shadow Catcher

from the album "Fearful Symmetry"
Words by Terry Taylor
Music by Terry Taylor and Tim Chandler
©1986 Broken Songs (ASCAP)

His eyes, make pictures when they close
He follows, pure breezes where they blow

The earth and ocean seem to sleep
In one another's arms and dream
He does not fear this haunted keep
But swims the shimmery boundless stream

Chorus:
Shadow catcher
Shadow catcher
Shadow catcher

His hands, turn shadows into gold
Three wonders, the spirit wind unfolds

Shapes that haunt thought's wilderness
These are the world's rejected guests
Glass darkly shades the final rest
Still He will surely past this test

(Chorus)

Here the wind will sigh and weep
And all the world is drowned in sleep
Yet His eyes do watch and keep
And the Spirit guides his feet, shadow

He prays, the Lamb of God descends
He seeks, a kingdom without end

Comes the hour of his distress
When temptations do oppress
But each sin he does confess
Embracing now his Unseen Guest

Shadow catcher

  Fearful Symmetry

I think it is about :

a balanced feeling that for every Sorrow there is a JoY ?
death = eternal life

I think the picture is a moment of time in the journey from life unto death... into the Presence of God

naked I came into this world, & naked I shall leave...
"I go under then rise up"
"awake - forever in the arms of The Beautiful One"

-----------------------------------------------------
What immortal hand or eye could frame thy fearful symmetry."
"The Tyger" - William Blake

"I will praise Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Psalm 139:14

"God molds history to His purposes, revealing in it the Fearful Symmetry which is His language in conversing with men." Malcolm Muggeridge

All my life I have been inclined to fall upon my knees in supplication and prayer (prayers offered through my vanity), but my inclinations have been the outcome of the wrong kind of fear. I know the fear in beauty, I know the fear of God (the beginning of wisdom), and I know the symmetry of man. It is both wonderful and fearful. Yes, I know these fears, and I know another; it is the sickness unto death cast out by God's perfect love.
These days of fear were my drowsy days in vain. I will not wake to sleep again. Now is the hour when sleep will no longer steal over me, for I am awake forever beyond the myths and fables which eclipse the luster of the only True Light - yet His myth is true.

The Japanese creators of Pokemon stole this puppy from Frontline to create their now-world-famous Pokeball design! Shocked

They never should've kept this design for two separate discs...bad professional planning!

I think it was just a basic Frontline lable thing...

CD's were still pretty new back then. Was FS the first album that came out on CD as well as Vinyl?
