  Bibleland

Listened to Bibleland in the car today while on my way to a substitute teaching assignment. Wanted to know what some of your impressions are of that recording. It took me a while to get into it because of all DA's work it's the hardest to hear the lyrics. Also the hardest rock they've done. But repeated listens won me over. (After all, it is DA!)

Some of the songs on it I'm not quite sure what they mean. Particularly "Low Crawls in High Times" & "Out in the cold." Also "Pete & Repeat" (though I think that one's about gossip). Knowing how Terry hates to explain his songs, I'm wondering whether any of you like attempting it.

I like Bibleland, but it's just never really gotten to my like the other DA albums have. Some good stuff, but I don't really like the style too much.

"Love and understanding, right now
Every freak demanding, right now
Whining and commanding, right now
right now, right now..."

  Liner notes

Kevin has a great alternative DA site that has online versions of Vertigo newsletter. The URL below is to Bibleland liner notes that should answer your questions.

Bibleland has a special place in my heart like all DA releases. My favorite songs are She's Working Here and Constance Of The Universe. The Bibleland song is one of Taylor's funniest too. I laugh every time I hear it.

"Takes a half an hour just to see it all..."

Thanks John! Now I can listen to BIBLELAND with new appreciation.

I work in Bibleland these daze and I gotta tell ya it's Divine providence that I get to cover (read: remake) this song. I don't know about the rest o' the ablum (intentional) but I got the title track dialed!

DAmb IT update:
starting preproduction at Highbridge this Labor Day weekend, as soon as Duane gets back from Korea (man that guy's got a killer job!)

Me too.
I still carry a Hans Rookmaaker quote from the newsletter in my wallet.

I think I still have some of those old newsletters around someplace. I don't know where though.

Yes I saw them on the site here somewhere. Haven't had time to re-read them yet.

I think I even have a Swirling Eddie dollar to be used on a future order from the fan club - except that the fan club disappeared. I hope the Avocado Club lasts. I like it. Did anybody get the toothpaste? I never did, but I almost did.

Posted by Mark on 09-03-2002 at16:40:

Never got the toothpaste.
